More About Brian and Becca

Brian’s background is not rooted in seminary or Bible school. Instead, he believes his spiritual foundation has been shaped through his personal walk with Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He often describes his faith as “organic.” Having attended church since the age of three, Brian grew up around biblical teaching, but his deeper understanding of God’s Word developed through studying Scripture for himself.

Brian did not sense a call to ministry until 2019, when he was given the opportunity to lead the youth at New Beginnings Church. During that time, he began to recognize God’s calling toward pastoral ministry. In his earlier years, Brian sought God’s direction but felt led into other areas of life, particularly through music.

Brian joined the military in 2003, serving as an infantryman in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2011, he was wounded in Afghanistan, an experience he describes as a miracle in which God preserved his life and made clear that he had a greater purpose. This pivotal moment led Brian to deepen his study of apologetics and eventually respond to God’s call into ministry.

He earned a BS in Aerospace Engineering in 2010, reflecting his natural curiosity and desire to understand how things work—an intellectual drive that continues to inspire him to research and explore broadly. Brian has been married for 16 years to Becca Wayland—known affectionately as “Mama Becca” by the youth—and together they have four boys. He serves bi-vocationally and currently works for the FAA while continuing to follow God’s calling in ministry.

Throughout his life, Brian has witnessed God’s miraculous healing, redemptive power, guidance, forgiveness, and a peace that surpasses understanding. His story stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness and the ongoing work of His Spirit in his life.

Becca serves alongside Brian as a mentor and encourager, lovingly known by the students as “Mama Becca.” Together, they strive to equip the next generation to follow Jesus boldly in every area of life. She obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy with a specialty in Neurologic PT.  She currently works for Integris in Moore and teaches at the University of Oklahoma.
